Of Persuasion;  Abraham, Paul And Many More. Are you Next?

Focus Verse 1: “And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.”  Romans 4:21 KJV

Focus Verse 2: “… For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”  2 Timothy 1:12 KJV

Words on Marble: “Faith is listed 243 times in the New Testament… it’s listed as pistis, meaning ‘persuaded; being persuaded, persuasion.’ For the believer, it is God’s divine persuasion.” – Glory to Him Church

Focus Themes: Persuasion, Faith, Believe, Conviction, God’s Ability

Common to both focus scripture verses above are the words ‘persuaded’ and ‘able’, as in ‘God is able’. These two words also form the core of the centrality of the thoughts being espoused in both scriptures. This would suggest to us that in the mind of Paul who wrote both books, as it pertains to the said contexts and accompanying subject matters, there was a certain connection between both words – ‘persuaded’ and ‘’able’.

Although God is sovereign, he can and he is able to do all things but often our persuasion of belief of him on an issue is almost often tied to his ableness on that matter in question. To what extent one believes and is persuaded of God on an issue, there’s often almost a corresponding correlation of God’s ability on that issue!

No where is this clearer than the story of the 12 spies and the army of Israel on the battlefield against Goliath. In the former, Joshua and Caleb had the same God, same promises and were all sent by the same mighty prophet, Moses. Which is also true in the latter, in which every one else on that battlefield that was immobilized and transmogrified by Goliath had the same God and was under the same covenant as David.

In both instances above, it was the persuasion of beliefs about God that separated the boys from the men, that made Joshua and Caleb and later on David broke ranks and see the ability of God differently and outstandingly! Correspondingly, the persuasion that engendered God’s superb manifestation made them superheroes till today!

In the case of the 10 spies, there was even a bad taste that lingered on, as neither any of them nor anyone else that believed their evil report saw the promised land! Sad!

Thus, it isn’t always the question of God’s ability, but more often than not, it is a question of our persuasion of  beliefs of him, ‘,,, according to your faith be it unto you ‘’  (Matthew 9:29 KJV) said Jesus.

Is there anything or anywhere you want to see God’s ability in? In that regard, do you believe? I am inclined to believe that you do! Then are you persuaded?

In the countless numbers of men and women who have believed God and have had a persuasion of him and have seen God’s ability in an unusual way, there was Abraham, there was also Paul. Are you next?

Same Paul in 2 Timothy 1:12 did a careful filtration between believing and persuasion “.. for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able…”.  Are you?
