“In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross” (Col. 2:15 NLT).
In Matthew 27, except for the centurion and others who saw the earthquake; no one, absolutely no one who witnessed the crucifixion would agree with Colossians 2:15 above that Jesus had any sort of victory on the cross. Yet He did, and indisputably so!
If we witnessed the crucifixion, would we have seen a defeated Jesus like everyone else? Why am I asking? Here’s why; you may just be right in the middle of your greatest grandest victory and nothing in your life or circumstances may look it. In fact, everything may look exactly opposite – “so we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal‘’ (2 Cor. 4:18 NIV).
The law of sight – piercing through the realms with the heart’s eyes. Not only in dreams and visions but also in understanding and revelations in the scriptures, even in divinely inspired imaginations, mental pictures and visualizations, is a cardinal inviolable law of the spirit.
God directed Abraham ‘look up at the sky’, to Jeremiah, He asked ‘what do you see?’, Moses ‘endured, as seeing him who is invisible.’ Elijah told Elisha, ‘if you can see me.’ Elisha prayed for his servant ‘Lord open his eyes.’ In the New Testament ‘then their eyes were opened and they recognized him …’ (Luke 24:31 NIV).
No wonder Paul prayed that the “God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him, By having the EYES OF YOUR HEART FLOODED WITH LIGHT …” (Eph. 1:17-23 AMPC) – Amen and Amen!
