Relocate The Obstacle

Read Time: 1 Minute

From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.” Matthew 16:21-23 KJV

Simon Peter, the foremost and most temperamental among the twelve disciples, once ignorantly stood against God’s purpose in the life of the Lord Jesus Christ. This was after his Master had disclosed His suffering, rejection and death in the hands of the Jewish religious leaders of that time. What did Jesus do? How did He handle this obstacle Peter raised? It was a simple step. He relocated it.

Make Jesus’ strategy of dealing with every obstacle to God’s plan and purpose your own strategy too. Just relocate the obstacle. Uproot it from where it obstructs you – right in front of you and relocate it behind you – where it can no longer impede your progress. Stop lamenting over all the obstacles you have before you. Start relocating them. Put them behind you. Don’t be angry with ‘Peter’ for those hurtful words. Don’t nurse any grudge against ‘Simon’ for speaking contrary to God’s plan. Get them behind you.  Words of discouragement and acts of opposition to God’s purpose in your life must be relocated, including all the dishonourable vessels who uttered them. In so doing, you will walk into God’s will and fulfill His mandate for your life.

‘Get thee behind me’, won’t let you obscure or obstruct my vision. Thanks sir for the insight

Can one really say Peter is an obstacle to Jesus Christ in fulfilling his purpose at the moment? I want to believe that Peter was talking out of ignorance, not having a full or better understanding of what Christ was saying at that moment. I want to believe that Christ rebuked Peter’s ignorance. Also, I want to take it that in the reality of life, when someone seemingly looks like or displays an obstacle character, either in the family where one came from or in the place of work, even in the body of Christ. Such people don’t have a better or full understanding of God’s purpose for one’s life. As you notice that in the people around you, you don’t get mad; rather, shift uyour post and move forward.

“… you don’t get mad; rather, shift your post and move forward“. Exactly, that’s the point. Thanks for the input. – Sola Oki
